And - children's media in Soviet Union wasn't that political anyway. It may have looked this way from outside, but it wasn't. Most of the animated cartoons were about animals or fairy tales or just based on children's books. The overall feel was much more humane and chill than in American cartoons, but not as sticky-sweet as Disney. More like British animated series I saw from Finnish TV - stories and not fragmented violent humour like most of the American stuff.
One example - Sojuzmultfilm made "Mowgli" about the same time as Disney made "The Jungle Book". Russian version is SO much better - epic, dangerous, stylistic. Disney is just a couple of songs and ten minutes of schizoid elephants pretending to be soldiers.
