There are several ways to start. I like to use common cardboard we here call "
lainepapp", "
wavy cardboard", to build the base for the mould. It doesn't need to be that complicated. But I like it, when base gives me the visual interpretation how the mould sides will be separated - usually it is not flat, simple plane. And this way I don't need to build everything from clay.
Here it is, like some sort of sculpture itself... :-)
