Ilsa - finishing touches...

Some sculpting updates:

Made a new and better silicone mould for my Werewolf statue's base. It's by far my best sculpt and the moulds must be as good as I could make them... without pressure pot and all the other pro-equipments. First one had some flaws and it made clean-up very hard. I hope this new one is ok.

I'll try to order some resin this weekend. It also means that I should get some more moulds ready for pouring... Hellboy bust base's silicone needs repairs, as part of it stuck to resin last time I used it. So, I need somehow cut out part of it and pour new silicone in. I'll see...

And, the most important "news" - trying to finish Ilsa's face. Made new right eye and the surrounding area, now I need to get the face symmetrical. Not an easy task, when the eye is some 3 millimeters wide... But I'm almost there. It is possible that I'll finish this statue this weekend.

Then I'll start moulding it. I'll try to take photos and to write another matrix mould making tutorial, this time for my blog. (The one I made a couple of years ago is posted somewhere on Hellboy forum and on Conceptart forum.)

Hi!

And sorry I haven't e-mailed to you recently...

Yes, we were in Paris for 8 nights. It was really nice there (I think by now I can add "as always"... :-) ), but I was quite surprised that there wasn't that many books I wanted to buy.

There was a box set with 4 Guy Davis' zombie series albums, but I read that they will be published in US soon, so I skipped them. There was also Mignola hardback with Screw On Head and other stories like this, but it was another book I didn't buy. I still got some very cool stuff. And saw some cool places. The "village" in Petit Trianon was the most syrreally cute place I've ever been.

By the way, I'm planning to post about a problem I have here. I need to restore my Hellboy bust base's mould. BUT - maybe I should make new leaves to the front of the base? You know, they really aren't that great or biologically accurate, I've disliked them for some time now. I just couldn't get myself to change my original sculpt... And now I got some great inspirational reference photos about similar plants. Maybe it's time for version 3.0? :-)
More in the posting...
